For your consideration, this wonderful C. J. Keats (Cecil Jack Keats) Victorian watercolor of an Antwerp street scene with figures and the Cathedral of Our Lady towering in the background. This is 20.5\" X 27\" and the painting itself is on board that measures 15.75\" X 22.5\" . This is signed in the bottom left.
This watercolour typifies the work of KEATS, who was renowned for his fine architectural studies, continental street scenes and townscapes. He was a well listed, highly collected and popular artist. He is listed on most ART REFERENCE SITES including ARTNET, ASKART, ARCADJA, etc.
This has some light foxing, visible in the sky area, and there is a tiny paper scratch just below the small top window of the central building and a very light scratch just above the barrel at the bottom right corner, very minor. The frame has several areas of damage and gesso loss. I still love these old banged up frames, and this one has a nice gilt mat. On the mat, in the top center, you can see a square of adhesive residue. I think this is the original frame, too, labeled by framers J. Robertson & Sons. See photo of back for condition.
