Fabulous pair of early Wedgwood Black Basalt Candlesticks, bottom marking is WEDGWOOD in all caps, commonly used on \"Useful Wares\" dating from 1769 - 1780. Photo with mark description from one of the few collectors guides for Wedgwood that has been printed, by Peter Williams copyright 1992 Quintet Publishing Limited, information and photos provided by the Wedgwood Museum, Barlaston, England. From one of the largest private collections of Wedgwood in the Eastern United States, this pair of candlesticks is in mint condition, not kept in direct sunlight to prevent fading. Unique design utilizes the classic Greek and Roman patterns commonly used by Wedgwood.
For the discerning collector, this pair would make a wonderful addition to any collection, or for the collector who is ready to start breaking out into the more serious statement pieces, these would make for a wonderful start. No chips, cracks, or imperfections. Approximately 6.5\" tall and 4\" wide at the base.
