During WWII the United States Government contracted with several companies to make 1:1200 scale recognition models of shipsH.A. Framburg Co. was contracted by the US Military begining in 1942 to build ship recognition modelsDuring this period....H.A. Framburg models were the most anatomically accurate scale models of that eraAn incredible attention was given to the smallest of details...often guns/turrets were cast seperately and later mounted on the model(s)The models were primarily made of lead - Framburg modelshad the ships class and production dates cast into the mold on the bottom of the ship modelFramburg produced both US, French and British Naval vessels....they and others model makers....ceased production of these models in 1945
The ship model that you are offerding on is a 1:1200 scale Recognition Model of theUS Brooklyn Class Cruiser - USS BrooklynThis model measures approx 6\" in length and is 5/8\" wide at the widest point - weighs 120 gramsI could only find 2 very minor \"nicks\" to the surface where the paint has come off of a small spoton a gun barrelIt is missing the tall antenna that extends vertically from the superstructure (bridge)Stamped on the underside.....BROOKLYN CLASS (U.S. CL)H.A. FRAMBURG & CO CHICAGO12 - 44
