It has seen some action! Pvt. Paul Dodson engraved his name, date 1942, and hometown of Defiance, Ohio on the outside of this US ACA 1918 (9) canteen. Completing the set, (may or may not be original to the canteen owner) is a US L.F.& C, 1918 \"L\" handled cup engraved with the initials E.D. Cap and chain are original to the piece. It is quite dented and scratched up, but metal is intact, there are no holes. There are two circular dents near the top, possibly bullet glances? Stands 7 3/4 inches tall, by 4 1/4 by 2 1/4 inches at base. Also included is enlistment information from the National Archives web site. I do not have his obit, but have learned that Paul died in 1991. He was a machinist. Returns per policy.
