Themedal comes in a blue velvet-lined, silver-color cardboard presentation box anda COPY of the descriptive pamphlet of issue. Also included: original 4¾” x 4¼” plasticpresentation holder; a COPY of the full-page newspaper advertisement “Best Newsin Years for Coin Collectors”, Coin World,September 22, 1961, pg. 23. (2 pages, 8.5”x11”, half-page shown/listed) and aCOPY of the brochure/advertisement “The Magnificent Six” (2 pages, 8.5”x11”).

“The Magnificent Six” was a medallic seriesof medals created to honor/commemorated the great designers and engravers ofnumismatic history including: Augustus Saint-Gaudens, Victor D. Brenner,Charles E. Barber, Christian Gobrecht, Euaenetos and James B. Longacre. Themedals were designed and issued by coin dealer Toivo Johnson (1913-1973) ofBangor, Maine and the dies engraved/executed by Robert Stephan Schabel(1909-1995). The medals were struck by The Metal Arts Company of Rochester, NY,in 76-millimeter diameter sizes in .999 Silver and Bronze. The medals werestruck and issued between 1961 and 1964. The Augustus Saint-Gaudens medal was the Firstissued in the series.
