Rare regional Texas collectible. Circa 1890/1910’s... fantastic old wooden Higgins co ink box once owned by the Onderdonk family and repurposed to hold Xmas tree lights! A good Box was a rare commodity back then and such items were probably constantly reused. I suspect, but have no way of knowing other than the claim of ownership at the top, that the 8x6x4” box held inks used for creating art or sketches. I guarantee that the wording is authentic... I’m fairly certain this is written in Julian Onderdonks or his wife’s own hand. It’s a curious object from a longtime collectors estate. I’m happy to deliver locally if needed.
The box is fairly good with stains, soils, age cracks (but quite stable), minor loss to lid edges, etc. as shown.
