For your consideration is a German S98/05 Bayonet. This one is the sawback variation with noflashguard and extended muzzle ring ears.The bayonet is dated 1915 on the back edge of the blade and is stamped“SIMON & Co, SUHL” on one side of the blade. There are military acceptance marks on the backof the blade under the date, on the crossguard, twice on the pommel, on theback of the handle, on the press catch or the release button, on the gripscrews and on the grip nuts. The blademeasures 14-1/2 inches and the overall length is 19-5/8 inches. The wooden grips are original and there is asmall (1/4 inch by 3/8 inch) chip out of the right grip near the crossguard. The locking mechanism works properly. The blade shows some dark spots and minorrust spots. It has not been sharpened.
