Up for sale is oneprivately purchased variants of theImperial GermanInfanterie-Gewehr Model 1871 \"Dress\" or \"Walking out\" rifle bayonet. This bayonet wasmanufactured byWeyersberg, Kirschbaum & Co., Solingen; marked WK&C The bayonet was a\"rolled-on\" etching with an elaborate design. The blade is somewhat fragile in appearance and function as it was designed dress only. Theybayonet wasnever intended to be placed on a rifle as is has no mounting slot and the springs are inoperative. thehilt ia cast-brass with a nickelcross guard and reversed quillons (the upper quillon has the muzzle-ring).
The scabbard is in very good condition with brass-mounted black leather. There are no markings onthescabbard. Please note it is about 3/4 of an inch short due to age related shrinkage.
