WWII ORDER OF THE CROWN OF ITALY KNIGHT GOLD MEDAL ORDINE DELLA CORONA D\'ITALIA & BOX. This listing is for a vintage, World War II medal that comes in its original red box with crown logo on cover with clasp on front (box has wear but IS intact, no lining on inside lid). In the box is an Italian medla, the Cavalier (Knight) of the Order of the Crown of Italy is an Order established by King Victor Emmanuel II in 1868 to commemorate the Italian unification and honor civilian and military merit. The badge of the Order of the Crown of Italy is a Gold-edged cross, enameled in white, with gold pattée alisée gold knots \"Savoy knots\" (figure-eight knots) between the arms of the cross. At the center of the cross is a deep blue enamel medallion bearing the gilt crown of Savoy with red, white and green jewels, encircled by a gold ring. The reverse shows a gold circular central medallion bearing a crowned black enamel eagle, an oval red enamel shield with a white enamel cross on its breast (coat of arms of Italy). A Cavalier of the Order wears the badge on a red-white-red ribbon on his left chest. This medal does come with a grosgrain red ribbon with white stripe in the center (no pin bar). Everything is in very good condition, the ribbon & medal together measure approx. 4-1/4\" long, the medal alone measures approx. 2-1/2\" in diameter. (5598d)
