Holiday Sale, Price Reduced :-) Merry Christmas !!!Youare offerding on a very old and extra large Sardonyx shell cameo mourning hair locket brooch thatfeatures a museum quality carving of Madonna and the Christ Child. The brooch measures approx. 2 3/4” x 2 5/8\" x 7/8\" deep. The cameo itself measuresapprox. 1 3/4” x 1 5/16”. I have added a coin in one picture so you can gauge the large size. The setting shows some plate loss and tiny amounts of verdigris (on the underside of the leaves) but the hinge, clasp, and swivel mechanism are in good working order. The glass is intact and I did not attempt to open the compartment. The cameo is very stable, and is secure in the bezel with no movement. I gently cleaned the item with a soft dry cloth but will leave additional cleaning up to the buyer.
