It is known for its great variety and the beautiful development of crystals, making it an exceptionally beautiful stone when polished. It is so well spread, that crystallized specimens are found in virtually every country.
In metaphysics, calcite is an astrological sign of Cancer. It is an energy amplifier particularly aiding one in recalling memories. It assists one in recognizing the creative forces of nature and an excellent stone to have around when studying the arts.
