In 1980, the internationally-renowned artist Yaacov Agam designed a beautiful postage stamp for the French Post Office. This lot includes FOUR (4) First Day Covers withthat stamp, with different cachets. Two of these FDCs were hand signed by Mr. Agam. All four FDCs have the original postage stamp affixed to them, and all are postmarked October 4, 1980, the day the stamps were issued. The size of each envelope is 4¾\" x 8½\". This was the first time that France permitted the facsimile signature of an artist to be shown on its cancel. Mr. Agam personally signed two of the FDCs using his well known (and much desired) multi-color signature. All four FDCs are in excellent condition.
