Original South Africa 1877-8-9 campaign medal with bar \'1879\' issued for Zulu War service to 13877 Driver Edward Burton, Royal Engineers.

Driver Burton was a member of \'C\' Troop, Royal Engineers, the Army\'s first telegraph troop - andthe Zulu Warwas the first campaign in which the telegraph troop were employed in the field. They were split between the columns during the second invasion, and Burton went on to serve in the Sekhukhune campaign of 1880. He transferred to the Army Reserve after that campaign, on 22 March 1880.

Condition extra fine, nice toning.
