This came out of a well to do Massachusetts estate believed to be German war booty. Brass dog sculpture reads GERMANY at the base.
The stone is either green marble or jade; beautiful green color with veins through out. I am not sure what this was used for but I would guess it was the base holder for an inkwell or ashtray on some big wigs desk. Beautiful brass sculpture of a Pekingese or Foo dog.Condition: A few minor chips on edges as seen and one chip on bottom. but no cracks in the rock. Stone is soft and could be sanded for perfection.
The dog is attatched by 2 brass screws which come through the bottom. One of the screws is missing a nut so the
sculpture is a bit loose.( easy fix if needed ) Nice unique antique piece, beautiful sculpture, lovely green transparent stone.
