ok the story is these came off of a french chateau they are bronze large heavy and beautiful acanthus leaf design almost looking like feathers. this pair has almost all of the gold worn off from use and has a wonderful patina and brass/bronze look. they have a square threaded rod holding them together. when the threaded rod is all the way in the knobs there is a gap of 3 1/2 inches which means the door must have been at least that thick. you could cut the rod for thinner doors. please see the photos. each knob is almost 5 inches tall and is actually several pieces see photos. each knob is about 3 inches wide with great acanthus leaves in a twisting design. It is easy to see which knob was the exterior as it has the great patina.please notice the photo when taken apart shows the gold plating even on the inside. I have a second pair made for a stationary door with wood screws in place of the threaded rod. I would presume the wood screws could be removed and square threaded rod put in its place. please see the other listing for the other pair.
