saleCirca 1450 Hoi An Hoard Charger Blue Glaze Bird in Peach Tree

Today I am listing a few pieces from my collection that are part of the Hoi An Hoard Ship wreck salvage collection. I purchased these pieces directly from the sale in which the salvage company sold the collection into the public market place back in 2003. Soo Hin Ong (head of the salvage company) was there in person and gave afascinatingpresentation on the salvage. He also guided me personally on which pieces to acquire. Each recovered piece was inventoried, and its location in the wreck recorded. If I remember correctly Soo Hin Ong said there is a web site in which you can look up the inventory number of each piece to see exactly where on the wreck site it was recovered.

I bought this one because it is decorated with a blue glazed bird in a peach tree (very rare decoration), with traces of green enamel glaze remaining. It is in also in good shape.

It is about 34.5 cm in diameter.

It is in good condition, with some small chips on the rim (see pictures). If you are unfamiliar with real Hoi An pieces, the exterior glass like glaze isabsentfrom being submerged in the ocean for more than 500 years.

When dealing with Chinese antiques, it is often difficult to be positive of the age. The nice thing about these pieces, is we know the ship sank around 1450, and we know the contents had been made shortly before ship sank. We also have documented chain of evidence from salvage. These are real early Ming Dynasty examples.

If you click on a photograph once, it will become larger. If you click on the larger picture, it will become larger still. These pictures allow you to examine this item a many times actual size. Depending on the speed of your internet connection, it may take a few seconds for the pictures to come into focus. These pictures are part of the description.

Shipping

We do not offer free or heavily subsidized shipping to lureunsophisticatedbuyers into buying fake items at 10-100\'s of times their value. We sell authentic examples at wholesale prices. We expect you to pay the full cost of getting it to your address. Please don\'t tell me that last month you bought a 20 inch vase on and had it shipped to China for $50, then demand we do the same. That buyer almost certainly just paid a hugepremiumfor a fake item, and the seller used a small part of the profit to pay most of the shipping cost. We combine shipping whenever safe to do so - you pay what it costs to ship the package (mail and the cost of packing materials). We only ship by tracked mail. Please see the sale calculator for the cost of mail to your address - there are probably several mail options to your address. gets its rates from Canada Post. If you do not like the cost of Canada Post, then please do not offer.

If you are outside of North America, please keep in mind that airmail takes 1-3 weeks, and surface mail takes 6-12 weeks. If you select and pay for surface mail, and you are outside of North America, please do not expect it to arrive in airmail time. Surface mail, means by land and sea, and it takes a long time! If you want it to arrive in 1-3 weeks, then select and pay for airmail, not surface mail.
