You are offerding on a striking and very rare miniature vellum leaf from a Breviary, highlighted with a beautifully illuminated large miniature large 6-line hand painted initial, amongst colorful and gold enhanced detailing, along with 3 other gold enhanced initials with blue penwork trails. amongst red and black humanist text, circa 1480, France.
Miniature Breviary devotional fragment, being a hand painted leaf, as shown; decently preserved with red and black text, the miniature capital in blue, red, pink, and purple detailing, the gold shining behind; with 3 other gold capitals enhanced with blue linework. Certainly French; text in Latin script. Page is overall decent with a few small flaws along with some smudges and stains, as shown, but with great detailing and intricacy. A truly rare and beautiful leaf. Hand portable and quite small in light of most on the market, the leaf measures only 4.25\" x 3\". Good luck!
