Description:

A magnificent early Saxony, German Armorial wine glass or 'Wappen Glas',dating to themid to late 18th century,circa 1750 - 1780.

The hand blown soda glass has a funnel bowl, a hollow stem comprising a cushion knop, central inverted baluster knop, and annular knop, standing on a folded foot with snapped pontil.

The exquisite engraved Armorial depictsa crowned shield to one side, incorporating two facing eagles heads either side of a 'St John's Orb', and a floral spray to the other, all under a zigzag border.
