This is an excellent c1850 american split baluster painted corner block frame. Numerous, bold turnings applied to a flat base make this an obvious mid-century/empire style folk frame. Composed of a tight hardwood grain i believe this frame is cherry. The frame is in excellent condition with minimal wear but does have a slight side-to-side shimmy in the corners (which will be fine once glass is fit). Measures 14 1/4 x 18 1/4 with an 11 1/8 x 15 1/8 rabbet. Almost definitely a Pennsylvania frame and a great piece of folk art. Check my response and offer with confidence.
