c1850s-1860s Beautiful Italian 18k Gold & Micromosaic Scarf Clip

Presented is a beautiful 18 karat gold and micromosaic work scarf clip or scarf ring. This is an Italian piece, dating to around the 1850s-1860s. The face of the scarf ring features a design of two white doves or other birds, surrounded by blue and red flowers on green stems. The design is made up of tiny stones inlaid in a black stone surface, incredibly intricate and detailed. The reverse of the scarf clip has \"ROMA\" surrounded by applied gold wirework and beadwork. The piece opens by removing a pin at one side, by pulling on the little bead at the top. This mechanism is very cleverly done and not readily apparent, as it is part of the overall design of the piece. The side with the pin is the side nearest the letter \"R\" and the bead that pulls out is the one on the top side, with the word Roma oriented upright.

This piece is in great condition. The closing mechanism is very secure. The mosaic work is in great shape, with no losses. There are no breaks and no repairs.

This piece is not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 18 karat gold.

This piece is about 1 long from end to end.

This piece weighs 4.4 grams.
