Up for sale is this C.S. marked Confederate Artillery Short Sword. It measures Approx. 24 1/4\" in total length put together. The Brass Hilt measures Approx. 5 3/8\" high and 3 1/2\" across. The blade itself measures at the top and bottom at their widest points Approximately 1 3/4\" and then it tapers into the middle to Approximately 1 5/8\". I purchased the sword in 1983 from an excavator who was digging around an old century home and unearthed the object. I feel I was the lucky one to have heard about it and was able to purchase it from him. That is the extent to my knowledge on the sword where it came from and it\'s age. The rest, is what I have read about on the item. I have never really showed It to any one maybe just a handful of people, sence I have owned it over the years. It was quite rusty then and I never did anything to clean it. I liked it, the way it was, and did not want to do anything to destroy it. I never coated the blade with anything it still at times has flakes coming off. Maybe some linseed oil or something to keep it from shedding.The Sword has its flaws and conditions as seen in the photos. The Sword is no where mint. But I feel it will still stand out and enhance any Civil War or War relic Collection. You be the judge. The pictures are a big part of my Description for the Condition and a good Representation of the item. Look for what looks good to me may not look good to you and what is important to you may not be to me.
