Two original large photographs of Electric Avenue, Brixton, London.

They are published by Leighton\'s Studio. 414 Brixton Road.

Although these are undated theywere taken and printed between 1885 and 1894and the most likely date is 1887.

They both show the Avenue decorated for a celebration and one of them features a banner of the \'Imperial Federation League\'. This movement was founded in 1885 and dissolved in 1894. Crucially it held its firstColonial Conference in London in 1887, the same year as Queen Victoria\'s Golden Jubilee. I feel confident that this is the most likely date for these photos.

Both photos are in very good condition with a little mild foxing. The mounts are good but one has a corner chipped.

The photo\'s measure approx. 11\" by 9\" and the mounts 18\" by 14\".
