Wonderful, ca1898, Early American Pattern Glass / Milk Glass Figural Covered Candy Dish in the form of the Battleship Maine.

This fantastic Spanish American War Commemorative piece measures approx.7 3/4\" long and 3 3/4\" to the top of the smokestacks. This is an original, 1890\'s piece not a later reproduction or reissue. The milk glass has a fiery opalescence and the detail of the mold is deep and crisp.

The USS Maine was a Battleship of the Great White Fleet whose sinking in Havana Harbor precipitated the US action known as the Spanish-American War.

This outstanding USS Maine Covered Candy Dish is in excellent condition clean and crisp with no damage or wear of any kind. It should be noted again that this wonderful candy Dish exhibits a brilliant, fiery opalescence when held to the light.

A beautiful and quite rare, EAPG / Milk Glass Figural Covered Candy Dish in the form of the Battleship Maine and a fine addition to any antique milk glass or Spanish American War collection!!!
