c1900 Restaurant China Plate Isle of Man Emblem & Latin Motto:

Rare and very heavy old restaurant china plate, 8 7/8” across the top, 1 1/8” deep, with a gray/blue flowers and foliage border. Inside, the odd and unmistakable emblem of the Isle of Man, 3 legs inside a belt and buckle, with a Latin motto that translates generally to “Whichever way you throw me, I will stand.” I like that – confident but not combative. Signed “K. T. & K. / China,” an early hallmark used by Knowles, Taylor, and Knowles, according to 2 sources I read, only before 1904. Heavy and dignified, in very good or better condition. There are light surface scratches inside, apparently all very old; no chips, cracks, stains, crazing, or loss of color or graphics.

International shipping is by USPS First Class International up to 4 pounds; over that must be shipped Priority. Oversized packages must be shipped Priority International, regardless of weight. Books are sent via USPS Media Mail.
