bottom left is an Isthmian Canal Commission Badge Number 30248

to the right is a small copper plaque which reads, "made from railroad tie laid in 1852 across the isthmus of panama/ ppie... 1915"

all mounted on wood... according to the back it's lignum vitae

the back has a very fragile pouch containing two flyers entitled "A Life for Each Tie"... about all the lives lost during the construction of the panama canal.

invoice for load of railroad ties... But this appears to be a mass produced item which was probably included with these plaques... the signatures are printed not hand signed.

All of the Paper items should be considered and are Very Very Fragile. All are tender, brittle, stained, yellowed from age, worn, eroded, and/or torn in places. Please inspect photos... Supersizing photos as you like.
