Up for your consideration is this c1940 SHAKESPEARE CRITERION DELUXE 1961 LEVEL-WIND CASTING REEL Model GA. This sale includes the Shakespeare Criterion DeLuxe Level-Wind Casting Reel carefully packaged for the winner. This item comes from the WPC collection out of Minnesota. Our collector has been collecting over 50 years. This collection will take a long time to complete. We suggest keeping an eye out for our listings and adding us to your favorite sellers!

MARKINGS: The head plate reads: Shakespeare Criterion 1961 Model GA. The foot plate is stamped: Made in U.S.A. Patented. The GA Model code indicates the reel was Made in 1940. The box end says No. 1960AS so we are not sure if this is the correct box or not?

REEL CONDITION: This reel WORKS AS DESIGNED and is mechanically sound having all parts fully inspected! Plates measure 2-1/4\" in diameter. The pillars are 1-3/4\" wide. The clicker works and sounds strong! The line-guide travels back and forth as it should. With clicker off the handle and spool spin free and easy! Both handle knobs are in fine condition and with out damage. While the reel does appear to have some light use, there is no real serious damage in our opinion. We did find a few small dings and some light hairline scratching and soiling. NO serious deep scratches or nicks. One nick noted at bottom of tail plate rim. Handle knobs slightly soiled. This is a STAMPED engraving. The plates look like mirrors when you wipe them down. Old black line still on the spool. Absolutely a BEAUTIFUL reel in very good or better condition. THE BOX: See the markings on the box end photo and remember the head plate of the reel says 1961 not 1960AS. SO, we are questioning weather this is the correct box or not? Box top has some damage. We consider this box to be very fragile and in just fair condition. Splits rubbing etc. This is another great sale that\'s all about the Shakespeare history and this very fine reel made way back in 1940. E-mail any questions or comments to Gary.
