These textiles today are called “HubbellRevival blankets”. Hubbell had smallpaintings made of older weavings he admired in collections throughout the U.S. The painter, E.A. Burbank, who spentmany summers in the Southwest, agreed to paint good blankets that he found in otherparts of the country. These paintingswere hung in the post for weavers to copy. The paintings still hang in the rug room at the post today. (SeeWeaving of the Southwest by Marian Rodee)
