This is a very rare antique copper traveling Russian samovar pot.Although I have shown you 12 pictures, I have another 16 that I couldn\'t load due to the limitation on . If you want to see the extra pictures let me know and I can send them to you. I will do the best I can to accurately describe every characteristic about it.This piece dates to somewhere around the early 1800s or perhaps even earlier !It is made of copper, and has dovetail seaming along the side.Overall, the (maximum) measurements are 13 3/4\" high from the table top to the top of very end of the center of the wood handle when the handle is lifed verticallyIt is about 13 1/2\" wide measured from the farthest point of the handle to the very end of where the is dispensed, and about 6\" thick measured from the end of the knob of the removable tray, to the opposite side of the box.THE MAIN BODY of the item (the box) measures about 8 1/2\" wide, 5 1/4\" high (not including cover pieces or lips), and about 4 7/8\" wide. You can see in the 4th picture showing the front that it is bronze where the tap is, and there is a dent in the main box towards the top of it. No breaks in the metal, just a dent. On the side of the box where the tray comes out you will see two small silver markings on it, near the edge on the left hand side. This looks to me as though there was something attached there which was soldered on, and is no longer there. It is possible that the piece missing is the same piece that is on the opposite side of the box in that same location, which looks like some type of thing for something to go into. There is dovetail seaming on the side.THE LEGS are made of bronze, are all original and measure about 2 7/8\" high. There are original wood pieces at the bottom of each one, and one of them has a chip in the wood whereby about 20% of the base of the wood leg is gone. You could see this in the 3rd pictures and in the last one.The two front legs are bent inwards a bit, but not too far that they couldn\'t be bent back into position if done carefully. I refuse to touch it!THE TAP PART (where the water comes out of) extends about 4\" out of the body/box, and is made of bronze. The knob part on it, also bronze, turns just fine and is very firm.THE TWO OPENINGS ON TOP are each about 3 1/4\" in diameter. I am not sure that the these covers are both original, but I am confident that at least one of them is AND that they are both from the same period. You will see evidence of this by looking at the metal from the inside, as well as the method used for attaching the knob\'s shafts to them (also seen from underneath). The wooden parts of the knobs on top of the lids are in excellent condition, but do not seem to all match 100%, although I am confident that they are all from the period. It is quite possible that one/some of these were replaced, but if so I am of the opinion that they were replaced a very long time ago.THE HANDLE\'S metal parts extend over 11\" across. The handle is very wobbly since the wood is not very tight where mounted to the metal ends, and that\'s also due to age of the wood as it is not very tight into the handle on the pins that hold the metal part of the handle to the main box. It is certainly still strong enough that you can travel with it and carry it by the handle. The wood handle has a few slits/splinters in the wood, but not noticeable at all unless you look very closely. There is a METAL TRAY that pulls out of the side, which also has a wooden handle on it. There many small dents on the inside flat part and side of the tray, but that is to be expected of an item of this age. The knob is in excellent condition.I believe this is where something very HOT would be placed in order to heat up the contents.
