Luxuriously soft, original Art Deco era 1920\'s Gatsby flapper silk velvet coat. Wool or cotton flannel lines the inside,
making the drape so soft and cloud-like with a proper weight that allows the coat to flow.. WOW!
This is the real thing and I hope there is a clothes designer or person with the love of these quality clothes that will take care of this amazing coat.
Collar and sleeves are two layered and gathered in an amazing pattern.
True color is closest to images below taken outside without a flash ( color is a rich plum with hint of amethyst!).
What needs to be fixed: Two small holes on coat near where left sleeve hangs down ( see images).
And then a few tiny ones in the front bottom near where the coat closes ( hard to see).
I imagine putting some of same color fabric underneath would work. Or add an embellishment.
Also the lining inside is worn in the upper back where a label might have been and some of the stiches have come loose.
A new lining would be needed I think at some point to wear it nicely.
I was told this coat was owned by a lady born in 1884 and ended up in the Ohio area until she was 98.
This coat belongs in a museum of how proper ladies of the era dressed! Or at least a pattern made of it.
I am not a seamstress at all, so will leave it up to you experts.
Ask questions before offerding if you aren\'t sure about anything. This is meant for an XS or S person!!
