I buy vintage linens at local estate sales to pass them along to you, and have just found some high quality antique table linens.This is a set of eight fine antique linen dinner napkins. They are made of Irish linen double damask: it actually says so! There\'s a closeup photo showing the small letters woven into each napkin on one edge, \"Irish linen double damask.\" Each napkin measures 22.5 by 21\" and has a woven pattern of squares with an elaborate scroll pattern, as shown. In the center there is a large hand embroidered monogram, a diamond shape with the letters HLB amidst wonderful patterns. The monogram measures 3.5\" wide by 2\" high, and the embroidery is quite raised. It\'s always hard to show white-on-white patterns, so please use the zoom function to examine the great details.
I have laundered and pressed these and found the fabric to be in good condition, soft and silky and not brittle. These are in excellent shape, but I did find 2-3 tiny freckles and a pinhole beginning at the very edge, as shown in the last photo. These are really beautiful, high quality napkins that look great.I am storing this in my smoke-free home, but I do have a cat who sheds copiously, so be aware if you have allergies.
