PLIMINARY NOTES~[Disclaimer]: As indicated in my listing title, this is NOT blackthorn--as Irish blackthorn shrubs are near nonexistent in the United States -and- do not grow here in Virginia. I have a variety of tree saplings available to me for root-cane usage. . . one of which isELM SAPLING[s]--some which have a very nice root for the handle. I have attempted to craft --here-- a stickSIMILAR to the classic balckthorn shillelagh . .

MADE USING A natural --bark-stripped-- HICKORY sapling withmany random surface knotsalong shaft

solid hardwood ball/knob is SECURELY attached [w/threaded steel dowl] for the handle

a metal cup collar separated knob from shaft [note some models may not have this?]

ball is approx. 2\" diameter - entire stick weighs about16 oz.

shaft diameter at topapprox. 1\" ... tapers to near 7/8\" @ bottom

STICK HAS BEEN HEAVILY STAINED WITH BLACK EBONY . . .

then sanded to bring-out the natural heartwood striations
