A very interesting American or English violin Label created on the wood itself:

This is a fantastic early, antique 4/4violin, that needs to be glued together, set up, cleaned and polished. I believe is American, but could also be English.

The back is made of 2 pieceof very attractive maple with strong flames and isin excellent condition and has no repairs and no cracks that I could see. The only thing it needs is some seam gluing.

The ribs are made of matching wood and are in perfect condition.

The scroll is made of matching maple and is in perfect condition. The peg holes look too large and may need bushing.

The top is made of 2 pieces of spruce with narrow, dense grains. It has a crack at lower bouts that has missed the base bar for about 1/8 of an inch and needs to be glued. Also a well repaired crack at the upper bout under the fingerboard.

The dark red brown oil varnish in original.

It is fully lined and blocked.As you see the lining is going over the corner blocks. The upper block is part of the neck ( see picture)

The body length is 14 inches.
