This vintage large US made picnic case is indeed a rare find in this condition and completeness. The utensils provide a full service for 4 people. The case is in a suitcase style, very sturdy with US made hardware,reinforced leather corner protectors and a very solid leather carrying handle. The silverware (knives and forks) are made by \"Universal\" and are solid nickel silver. The 4 spoons are stainless steel. The 4 serving plates (7 3/4\" dia.) are also solid nickel silver. The salt and pepper shakers are sterling silver. On the bottom of the case are two chrome food storage boxes with a divider in the middle (box sizes: 12 3/8\" wide, 6 1/2\" deep, 3 1/2\" high). The boxes provide an opening loop and are secured to the case with leather snaps. On either side of the food storing boxes are built-in dividers for liquid storage. One side provides a glass wine decanter and the other side a heavy earthenware with cork sealer (these might not be original?). The whole case weights in at a hefty 17 lbs.Overall, this very unique and large vintage picnic case and its content are in used but above average condition. This case could accompany very stylishly an outing with a classic automobile. It is very solid, well built and put together.
