Probably created pre-WWII by Carl Art (1936-1976) this is a hand carved double blossom cabbage rose from an unknown medium set on machine pressed gold filled detailed leaves with a satin finish gathered together with three strands of jeweler\'s wire ribbon. The carving is outstandingly intricate and well representation free of stain or oil. The blossoms are glue to two gold filled disk that are securely soldered to a stem of gold filled jeweler\'s wire. The reverse also reveals an oval cartouche engraved with the assay mark of 1/20 12KTG.F. with the Carl Art signature of the letters C and A with an arrow shooting through the letters with a double quiver and pointed end. The brooch measures 2 1/8\" by 1 1/2\" and has a c-clasp closure and pin assembly securely soldered with an North-South orientation. This work of wearable art and golden treasure is in outstanding minty pre-owned and well loved condition with no visible sign of age or wear with the metal brilliant and reflective.

Founded in 1936 in Providence, Rhode Island, Carl-Art was owned by ArthurLoercherand CarlSchraysshuen. The company made jewelry in smaller, classic designs, some featuring rhinestones, sterling, and gold-filled fittings. They sold under their own name and also made jewelry for other companies including WalterLampl. Carl died in 1953 and his wife sold their half of the company.
