This is a pair of very whimsical Chinese Pith Paper paintings. This type of painting would have been sent for Valentines Day or for New Years. I have collected these paintings for over forty years and this pair is unusual as the paintings in this genre were usually of tasks, torture, and daily life. Whimsy was rare. The painting with the butterfly has a crack down its center. Since these paintings are from the mid 1800-s and the paper is made from the \'pith\' of trees, you can imagine how fragile the paintings must be. The pair are lovely, waiting for frames. I am new to selling but not new to , I am editing my collections! Good luck. Sold as is.
