Graeme’s version of the beasts of war, the great “Mûmak Of Harad” or “Mûmakil Oliphaunt” War Elephant from The Lord Of The Rings.

Very highly detailed! This sculpture has an incredible amount of depth and detail in every single inch across the whole piece! Photos do not give the detail of this sculpture anywhere near enough justice, and it really does need to be seen in person to be able to truly admire the beauty of this one of a kind sculpture!!

•NOTE•: as this is a rare, one of a kind prototype sculpture/statue that was never made and released beyond this 1/1 prototype… the descriptions below are of my own interpretation of this Mûmak Of Harad sculpture, and are done so to the best of my knowledge. Others may see parts of it entirely differently to me, and that’s completely fine!

The beauty of owning a piece such as this.. is that the owner can interpret the design & details however they like! ;)

Description:

•This statue depicts the mighty Mûmak Of Harad in a striking pose; mid-charge during battle. With one of its front legs raised up in the air, its giant foot seemingly about to crush a group of soldiers underneath on the battlefield.

•The formidable war beast is kitted out with all its terrifying war trappings; great iron shackles around the base of each leg covered with deadly sharpened spikes.

•On the top of its head it dons a helmet with sharpened spikes/horns on top and sheets of armour protecting its vulnerable eyes.

•At the lower end of its trunk are more sharpened spikes/horns, and the tusks have pieces of razor sharp wire wrapped around them.

•And perhaps its most awe-inspiring addition for battle; precariously perched high atop of the Oliphaunt’s back, sits the war tower, holding a Haradrim Master with a spear, plus 3 Haradrim Warriors: 2 Spearmen and 1 Archer, who’s loaded and ready to fire an arrow! One of the Spearmen is also holding a shield.

•The war harness is secured with highly detailed, ornate ropes/belts, which were fashioned & decorated by the Haradrim, and are strapped tightly all the way around, hugging onto the beasts belly. And on the belt there are Flag emblems/banners of:

a Dragon, a Lion, a Skull, and a Sun.

•The war harness/war tower carrying the Haradrim warriors is removable; cleverly concealing a hollowed out section within the Mûmak’s back, the perfect place to hide your… Preciousssss!

•Another detail which at first glance one might think is not meant to be there, or that it could have been damaged at some stage during the casting process... when in actual fact it’s one of those little added details that makes you appreciate this piece even more!… You’ll notice a small pierced hole going straight through the Mûmak’s left ear; which would be for where the Haradrim Masters attach their ropes to, that they tug and pull on to control and steer their giant machines of war! I love this small but important detail!!

•The statue is secured fixed onto a 19cm x 15.5cm wooden base, with 3 bolts fixed into 3 of the Mûmak’s hooves.

•This statue has a different kind of finish on the pewter, compared to the Royal Selangor statues, and when it catches the right light.. the pewter really shines and sparkles, almost like it has a diamond coated finish!

The detail on this sculpture is quite incredible! With so much detail.. the skill involved, and the amount of time Graeme would have spent designing, carving, casting, polishing and completing this piece, would almost be immeasurable, and probably the main reason this model never officially became part of the LOTR Collection.

This is the kind of piece that you can spend a lot of time studying it and admiring the detail.. and then keep discovering little bits & pieces on it that you hadn’t noticed before! And in my opinion, that’s what makes a particular piece of artwork remarkable and extra special!

Serial number: 1/1 (hand engraved by Graeme on the underside of the removable Howda/War Tower that sits atop of the Mûmakils back carrying the Haradrim warriors)

Also Hand signed by Graeme Anthony himself (Hand engraved on the opposite side to the serial number, not just stamped)

You will not find a rarer piece than this… this is the Master Pewter Proto-type - Number 1 of 1 - the only one ever made, never before shown until now, and never advertised or made available for sale!!

I believe this design never made it to production due to the very large size and weight, the huge amount of Pewter required for this sculpture, and the difficulty in casting & producing such an imposing piece, all of which added up to make this design a very expensive piece to produce commercially!

Mûmakil;

Massive, often ferocious beasts, their legs were like trees, their bodies were larger than a house, they had enormous sail-like ears, and they had a long snout like a huge serpent. Somehow the Haradrim tamed them and the result was possibly the most brutally effective beast of war that Middle-earth ever saw.

“The armies of Harad often employ Mûmakil, massive war-beasts trained by the Mahud, to trample their enemies underneath their colossal feet!. A Mûmak is nigh unstoppable once it begins its charge, tossing aside enemies like broken dolls. A Mûmak can break through an enemy line while Haradrim warriors rain deadly arrows from atop the howdah on its mighty back.”

Never displayed or used and in excellent, as-new condition. No damage, dints or scratches.

Being a proto-type it never had a box, but I have suitable boxes for it, and it will be safely packed with added packaging & foam to ensure it’s well protected for shipping.
