Back in 2005, I attended an sale in upstate New York. The sale was made up of over 200 lots of pulp magazines from 1928-1940. Each lot was approximately 10-15 magazines per corrugated flat. Each of these contained pulps in extraordinary fine condition, with many duplicates of various titles. The pulps were saved and collected by a magazine delivery driver. Apparently, he took many of the previous months home, rather than turning them all in. I had three (3) issues of the August 1928 “Amazing Stories” with the legendary “Rocket Man” cover. I sold two of them on years ago. This magazine that is for sale today is the best. It is our belief that this, along with others, was never read. All came from the same house and, according to the saleeer, were stored in large corrugated boxes (some advertised “Campbell’s Soup”). The boxes were stacked against a wall in an upstairs, heated bedroom. Most of the wear is from storage, being packed horizontally and vertically in the same box. We also have left about 30 other pulps from the same house that we will eventually sell. We had bagged and boarded all of these magazines years ago.

The condition of this magazine, “AMAZING STORIES, AUGUST 1928” is as follows:

clean smelling
tight and bright
full spine with all the wording
has every coupon
off-white to light cream colored pages
the bottom front cover line, “Experimenter Publishing Company, 230 Fifth Avenue, New York” is complete and inside the blue color background! (many of the pulps I have seen in online platforms have the bottom trimmed)
new looking (bright silver) staples
back cover has mild storage wear
always handled with white cotton gloves
no inside writing or scribbling
cover is truly “Amazing”
no torn or folded over pages/edges

If this pulp was graded, it would be at the least, a 7 or higher. Comic Connect out of New York City recently sold an FN:7 for over 24K.
