antique 1800's Bradford family CREST 15 star 15 stripe American Flag colonial MA
antique 1800's Bradford family CREST 15 star 15 stripe American Flag colonial MA:
This sale is for a fabulous Framed Coat of Arms Painting, "By The Name of Bradford." This is from a local estate outside of Boston and we do not know much about it. The painting contains stags similar to the coat of arms of William Bradford, governor of Plymouth Colony. It also contains a 15 star, 15 stripe Flag- the Star Spangled Banner Flag authorized by the 1794 Flag Act. The painting is likely from the early 1800's. The framed painting is about 16" x 12." The painting itself is about 14" x 10". It is on paper. The materials used appear to be pen & ink and some kind of paint, perhaps watercolor. It may be oil based though, as there is a sheet of paper behind the painting with some faint staining on it mirroring the crest design. There is a 3 mm hole to the right of the stag heads. The painting has some discoloration and wear as you can see in the photos. Check out the photos! Shipping and handling will be discounted if you win multiple sales at the same time.
