Quite a remarkable discovery of a Samuel Clemens occurred 12/2022 purchased from an online dealer. The identification of this as Samuel Clemens was made by this writer. I believe it is an obvious and easy identification.

Interestingly, i discovered this tintype ferrotype around the same time as a discovery or a CDV of the grandfather of the modern computer, the inventor of the adding machine, William Seward Burroughs. That cache of Burroughs family photos occurred after discovering one of the founders of the beat generation, Joan Vollmer— many of Joan and her roommate Edie Parker. Supposedly it was their parties that brought together Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, and William S. Burroughs.
