A fine and early clock set by the famous maker Japy Freres.It is of superb quality in fine gilded bronze mounted with delicately paintedSèrves style porcelain. It features a putto painting apanel of finely painted flowers. The porcelain panels have a bleu Celesteground. The large panel has a lovely painting of two cherubs within a giltcartouche. The candelabra are carried by seated cherubs holding floral wreaths.

The dial isporcelain enamel on copper with blued lettered hours and original finely frettedgilt brass hands. The hobnail bezel is fitted with convex glass.

The French movement is by Japy Freres and is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition havingbeen fully overhauled by our clockmaker. It is an early version of the Pendule de Paris movement with spring hammer stop and has been convertedfrom silk suspension to spring at some time. Pendulum is a replacement.It runs for 8days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip to hearthe bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case isexcellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly anywear or discolouration and there are no losses. Porcelain is also in excellentcondition with no damage. The dial is also in excellentcondition just a small nibble next to the right hand winding hole. The set makes a stunningdisplay as you can see below.
