$275.00

Here is an original bill for 3000 pounds of Continental Currency, written in ink on period paper that measures approx. 6 1/2" by 8 1/4". It is dated "the day of the Election May 1780" and bears the signatures of Connecticut Justices of the Peace Samuel Talcott and Thomas Seymour and is countersigned by Oliver Wolcott Jr. who later became the Secretary of the Treasury in George Washington's cabinet following Alexander Hamilton and was also Connecticut's 24th Governor. Wolcott was also the son and namesake of one of the original signers of the Declaration of Independence. Others named in this document are William Collier and John Laurence. The paper has 2 vertical fold marks and has some toning due to age and is in otherwise very good condition. Thanks for looking at this sale.
