1864-66 Melainotype. Similar to a tintype, but much rarer. Partial R11(c) 3 cent proprietary stamp mounted on the back of the melainotype. Pencil identification of the photographer as Williams of Detroit. The label is from the frame which was made in Shelyville Indiana. Melainotype hasn’t been removed from the frame since I’ve owned it. 1/6th plate in size. The half case has some damage. Splitting at the bottom of the case. No major condition issues. Rare in many ways. Feel free to ask questions.
