2008 Chicago Pen King Oil Painting, Museum of Science Industry 1893 World’s Fair
2008 Chicago Pen King Oil Painting, Museum of Science Industry 1893 World’s Fair:
Up for sale is an exquisite oil on canvas painting of Chicago’s Museum of Science & Industry by Chinese artist Mr. Pen King. I started following him about 15 years ago, and purchased this 20” x 25” canvas back in 2008 and was stunned by its beauty, and even bought a second piece (see Navy Pier painting in my listings). Mr. King is still painting, but now seemingly only in a mass-produced style (could be Chinese students he supervises, don’t know), so in my opinion, his earlier works are much more significant and beautiful. The actual measurement of the canvas itself is 27” w x 23” h, but the image itself is roughly 25” w x 20.5 h”. This is an earlier, original knife textured oil on un-stretched canvas, and was hand painted and signed by Mr. King. This painting might be a good find for upscale residents in Streeterville Chicago, Downtown Chicago, or King collectors etc…
Being from Chicago, I used to collect 1893 Columbian Exposition World’s fair items but liquidated my collection years ago, save a few minor items. I always wanted an oil painting of the Fair, but none exist that I know of, so I think for 1893 Columbian Exposition collectors, this painting of what was the Palace of Fine Arts Building in the 1893 fair, may be closest you can get to having a high-grade painting that in a way pertains to the World’s Fair.
Although years ago, this item was mailed in a tube, the oils have naturally hardened and it is better now to mail this flat, which is what I shall do. The shipping/insurance for the lower 48 states – the continental U.S. will be a flat rate of 45.00. Anyone living outside the continental U.S will need to contact me prior to purchase for a shipping quote.
