Murano Glass Cobalt Blue Decorative Bowl w/Arabic Inscription

This one-of-a-kind centerpiece comes from the exclusive collection of the New Murano Gallery.

It is completely handmade from design to production to etching. The artist follows an old-world etching technique requiring time and diligence. From conception to completion was about 30 days.

This centerpiece measures approximately 12 in diameter, 5 in deep and weights 6 lbs. It features a clear glass flat bottom, beveled sides with arched tops and a round Cobalt blue body.

The flat bottom provides stability, the beveled arched sides allows maximum light entry bringing the scene inside the bowl to life, and the blue body have double sided etching.

This bowl follows the Miniature Art style of China and India at the time.Miniatures are small but mighty artworks.They are tiny paintings with exceptional details reflecting the scenes of life.

By the 12thcentury, Persia influence miniature paintings with new colors of golds, silvers, and ultramarine blue from lapis lazuli.

This centerpiece’s vibrant blue with its 24K white and yellow gold etching gives us a visual of the contributions and enrichment Persia had on Miniature Art.

THE BOTTOM is clear glass with a fanciful relief in the center.

THE INTERIORcombines elegant motifs with hunting scenes of warriors, dogs, horses.

THE EXTERIOR features 4 scrolls of poetry in Arabic’s Maskhi font surrounded by motifs of spiral leafed branches.

The poem liberally translates as –

“ Of grace, this bowl, always full!

Health to his body, those who are nourished!

Whether at house then always at feasts!

What of grace is not, empty remains! ”

The overall feel of this centerpiece is prestige, elegance, grace and excellence.

CONDITION - The bowl is in perfect condition.It has no chips or cracks.It has always resided inside a custom case.It comes with authenticity papers from the New Murano Gallery of Murano, Venice, Italy.
