Year: 1998 Includes: Professional packaging and shipping; Professional engineering and Installation Of all Dale Chihuly's art, his large scale hand blown glass chandeliers are his most iconic. Chihuly became famous for his inventive shapes and new techniques with the blowpipe, and perhaps nowhere is that innovation displayed better than in the complex, twisting coils of his show-stopping chandelier designs. This 1998 blue mosaic chandelier was purchased from Dale Chihuly studios in 1999, but was not completed until 2000 when several new custom pieces were added (notably the turquoise components). The size and composition are considered an "Evelyn Room Chandelier", the design of which is based upon the artist's own multiple chandelier installation at the Chihuly Boathouse on Lake Union and is one of Chihuly's earliest chandelier designs. This blue mosaic chandelier is currently de-installed and packed. Included in the purchase price of this Chihuly chandelier is professional installation worldwide, and we can also assist with site engineering and lighting (for a separate fee - please message us for details!). The chandelier retains its original 11 Chihuly boxes, 1 for the armature and 10 for the glass components. Like all of our Dale Chihuly original art, this blue mosaic chandelier comes with a certificate of authenticity from Modern Artifact.

About Dale Chihuly One of the most famous contemporary glass artists in the world, Dale Chihuly is best known for his monumental sculptures and installations. He is the name behind the spectacular ceiling at the Bellagio’s flower garden in Las Vegas and the creator of the Rotunda Chandelier at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Glass works of Dale Chihuly are considered some of the most desired collectibles between the decorative arts devotees today. Despite his initial indifference towards education, Chihuly has spent a lot of time in school, obtaining both scientific and artistic degree in sculpture from prestigious graduate schools. He displayed a proclivity for interior design and craft early on, but his true passion was always in the glass. He was a Fulbright Fellow in the late 1960s and an apprentice at the Venini Glass Factory in Venice. Mastering the art of Murano glasswork, he continued the experiments with glassblowing and thus became one of the people who brought the ancient art of glassblowing back into the spotlight on an international scale. Monumental and small-scale artwork of Dale Chihuly is present in over 200 most renowned decorative art collections today, while the artist holds twelve honorary doctorates! The most illustrious series in his work are Cylinders and Baskets he created in the 1970s; Macchia, Venetians, and Persians from the 1980s, Niijima Floats and Chandeliers created in the 1990s; and a more recent one, Fiori from the 2000s. For over 30 years, Dale Chihuly has been acting as an artistic director of his team of craftsmen, since he was incapacitated in two accidents, which left him blind in one eye and incapable of holding the blowing tube. This change allowed him to see the possibilities of glass work on a broader scale, while still maintaining his recognizable style.

All of our shipments are professional packaged by a team of trained shipping professionals. All shipping within the continental United States is included in your offer. For all other locations there is a $100 flat fee.

We offer international shipping to any country protected with 's guarantee for a flat rate of $100. If you have any questions on shipping outside of the US please feel free to message us.

All items are listed with the utmost accuracy. If for some reason your item arrives and is not what was described please reach out to us immediately. No photos are altered and all photography is produced by a professional photographer. Some photos are imposed in living room settings to give you a general idea of what the piece would look like. Others may have a mock up of a framing option we offer. All items are insured when shipped. If your shipment seems to be damaged when it arrives please open in front of the delivery people and take photos of any damage. If you change your mind about an item after the purchase, returns will be accepted but are subject to a 10% re-stocking fee and return shipping will be at your own expense. The restocking fee is non-negotiable due to the the overhead involved in packaging, shipping, lost followers from the listing, and the time spent facilitating the return process with and paypal.
