George Adams Co. C of Michael H. Chevallie\'s/Lane\'s Battalion of Texas Mounted Volunteers commanded by Col. Jack Hays. In his pension papers it said he served as a Ranger in Col. Jack Hays Regiment of Texas Volunteer Cavalry. Also states he was employed in Scouting. Comes with a book \"PORTRAIT & BIOGRAPHICAL OF WELL KNOWN CITIZENS OF WESTERN OREGON\" Reprint of 1904 Edition. Which includes Thomas Chavner\'s biographical record - pages 201-202. Emigrated to American 1820 from Ireland.1. Served as Cabin Boy Mississippi on General Albert Pike.2. Member of the company Sublett & Campbell American Fur Co.3. Employed by Thomas & Craig Traders Brown\'s Hole, Green River.4. Met with Kit Carson, Baptiste Cheults, Lewis Anderson, etc.5. Trader with Arapahoes, Sioux & Cheyenne.6. Mr. Chavner met with Gen. Fremont and recommended Kit Carson as Guide.7.
