2012 marked the 50th anniversary ofNelson Rolihlahla Mandela\'sarrest, which took place three kilometers outside of Howick on the R103 near Lions River. A monument has been erected at the capture site. the place where he said goodbye to freedom for 27 years, with an embedded plaque that reads \"Tsiamelo\" meaning \"The Place of Goodness\".
The presentation box is a tin box that was used to depict the type of container that prisoners used to store their possessionsin when incarcerated. The box contains the medallion which is encapsulatedand a copy of the warrant of arrest as well as the newspaper article that told the world that the \'Black Pimpernel\' as Mandela was known had been captured. The scratches on the box are part of the presentation.
This is a rare item of Mandelamemorabilia and very hard to come by.
