TWO Slave Era 1860s CDV Photo African American Men in Nevada Civil War Tax Stamp:
$2500.00

Two original CDV photos of African American men, photographed circa 1865. The man with the walking stick has a studio imprint of H. Krause's Pioneer Gallery in Austin, Nevada, the other man's has a Civil War revenue stamp, which appears to have a cancellation date of the 1st of (month unreadable) 1865.
Both of these were out of the same estate, so they both could have been taken in Austin, Nevada, with a chance that the tax stamp one was taken in Grass Valley, California. The men were possibly California, Nevada African American pioneers, miners, or both.. or maybe they were in the area to celebrate The Colored People’s Festival, which was held at Hamilton Hall in Grass Valley in honor of the second anniversary of Emancipation Day on January 2, 1865.
CDVs are 4" x 2.5" and in very good antique condition. Use zoom/hover to check for details, or send a message with any questions. Boxed & insured Priority Mail.history 1800s antique black slave slavery juneteenth rare
