X Rare Carved Wood Bugs Bunny Henry Devos French Carousel Figure 23" Rabbit 50's:

up for consideration is late 40's early 50's extremely rare Henri De Vos Company small hand carved wooden Carousel Figure depicting Bugs Bunny. The piece measures about 23 inches long 20 inches in height by 10 inches wide at the ears. Of course he has some old over paint and his iconic teeth are painted black but all that can change if you like or keep him the way he is. I think one could remove some of the over paint and get him back to sort of original form. He does have some normal wear but that doesn't matter all that much considering his rarity form and function. Please see photos as part of the description. He has a factory hole through the back of which a pipe fit through where he was mounted. Which would work nicely for display. According to research a small type rickshaw was probably part of the original carousel ride of which the small child sat in the rickshaw while Bugs led the way with others around and around. Likewise De Vosonly made a few carousels that were inspired by Disney and other Comic and Cartoon film figures. So this is of course a very rare piece that made it's way from France ...somehow to here in a little ole town in Michigan. So when searching information on one will note that De VOs made an early Mickey Mouse carousel figure of which there is said only to be 5 in the world. ..that particular piece was restored and hit the market a few years ago and now part of a Museum display with great exposure and of which many people enjoy getting their photo taken with it as the highlight of the tour. Likewise only a handful of Bug Bunny pieces exist especially considering it's early. It comes with 2 brass pole pieces that may have been original to the piece.

Comments: this item comes from a collection of Disney , Comic and Cartoon Film Character stuff that not only would surely cause marital disruption... make grown men cry and children pass out in confusion but it literally turned people green with envy. Luckily I was immunized the day before of which I was not subject to the powers of the mystic and overwhelming collection. No doubt these are confusing timesit is a forever changing world and it is difficult to keep up with things. In the last instance you don't have to own something to enjoy it...perhaps just seeing it brings back a fond memory or a chuckle and that is what is considered priceless to me.
