Circa 1910s-30s.During the Roaring Twentiesthe World's elite found Honolulu to be a favorite getaway.This painting looks circa 1920 butwas possiblypainted as late as 1931 whileStone wastraveling abroadacquiring theVancouver museum's founding collection.Coincidentally, the museum's first purchase of Pacific Art was also beach related.That purchasewas made in 1932, one year after Stone's initial buying trip, when they acquired On the Beach, Dinard, c. 1905 by J.W. Morrice (1865-1924). Measures about 16 1/2" by 12 1/2" to outside of what appears to be the original frame.
